This is my visitors from 27th January to 2nd February (a week only into my first-month blogging). This is, according to Google, a 115,6% growth referring to day 0 (the day I started my blog). I doubled my traffic.
As quite a niche blogger, I was really struggling to get traffic to my blog. Even though my blog is still very young, for me it’s very important to see decent traffic on it.
So, I decided to start testing some different methods to see what grows my blog the best.

Start Selling Digital Resources
What are Digital Products?
Digital products tend to be info-products on specific topics, aimed at helping people solve a specific problem.
Creating and selling your own digital product is a great way to make money blogging because you get to share your expertise with your readers and once you created that product, you can keep earning passive income from it.
Here are a few types of digital products that you can create:
- E-books: they are usually priced between $5 and $40 (for example, I am writing my first E-book about digital pet photography and plan to sell it at the end of July 2020).
- E-courses: they tend to be priced between $40 and $300, depending on the contents. You can create a text-based course, a video-based one and mix it all together. I already have my FREE online course about action pet photography sent through email to my subscribers. You can enroll in it by subscribing my newsletter (this helps growing audience).
- Membership sites – they can be price anywhere from $10/month to $100/month. Here one of my favorites (and cheap one):
- Other digital products – but the list doesn’t stop here. As long as your audience has need for it, you can create just about anything. From digital planners, blueprints, recipe books, mini-courses, audio trainings, digital art and so on.
Creating and selling digital products on my blog has revolutionized the way I make money blogging and allowed me to earn more passive income.
That means that I was making sales for these products without actively trying to promote them.
What do you need to do before you create digital products?
Before you get started with creating your first digital product (or adding to the list of products you already have), here’s what you need:
- An idea – that you validated. First of all, you need to come up with an idea. Something that your readers actually need and would spend money on. Next up you need to validate that idea. You can do that by sending a survey to your readers to make sure that they are just as in love with your idea as you are.
- A platform and a following. Next up, you need a place where you can promote your digital product. And to do that, you need a platform and a following. So focus on growing your blog, your email list or your social media channels. (You don’t need a massive following, but you need a decent loyal readership.)
- A strategy and a plan. After that, you need to come up with a plan to get this done! Creating a digital product can’t be done in a weekend. You need to do research, write, edit, film and plan everything so that it makes sense to whoever is reading/watching it. To make sure all that gets done, you need to decide how many hours you’re willing to spend on each task and set a deadline for when you want your product to be finished.
- A selling platform and a marketing strategy. Once your product is done, all you have to do is set it up and get it ready for sale. You also need a marketing strategy that will allow you to sell copies even after the buzz from the launch dies down. More about all this in the next email!

The idea behind it is that you promote other people’s products, often through an affiliate network, earning a commission if people actually end up buying thanks to your marketing.
It’s based on revenue sharing. If you have a product and want to sell more, you can offer promoters a financial incentive through an affiliate program. If you have no product and want to make money, then you can promote a product that you feel has value and earn an income from it as an affiliate marketer.

Display advertising is a method of attracting the audience of a website, social media platform or other digital mediums to take a specific action. These are often made up of text-based, image or video advertisements that encourage the user to click-through to a landing page and take action (e.g. make a purchase).

Most display and online advertising campaigns are charged on a cost per click (CPC) basis. That is to say, every time the user on a search engine clicks on your ad, you’ll get charged an amount based on your overall bidding strategy.
They can also be used for retargeting campaigns. This is where ads are served to users who have already visited a specific website. The aim is to “retarget” them and encourage them to return to the website to take the same action (or an action at a different stage of the funnel).

The short answer is yes! Your display campaigns can come in several shapes and sizes, which include the following:
- Banner Ads: One of the oldest and traditional forms of advertising, banner ads usually appear at the top of websites in a “banner” format.
- Interstitial Ads: These ads appear as web pages that are served to users before they are directed to the original page they requested.
- Rich Media: These ads include interactive elements, such as video, audio and clickable elements.
- Video Ads: The YouTube advertising platform, as well as social networks like Instagram and Facebook, have opened a whole new avenue for marketers. Video ads allow you to reach your audience and connect with them on a personal level, and are well worth investing in.
What Are The Benefits and Downsides to Display Advertising?
As is the case with all marketing activities, display campaigns can come with their own pros and cons. Before we get into some actionable and in-depth advice on how to apply display ads to your business, let’s look at their benefits and downsides.

First, the pros:
- Diversity: Display ads come in many shapes and sizes. And as you’ve seen above, they can be presented in a number of formats, too. This means you can choose a style and advertising format that will help you achieve your goals.
- Reach: Thanks for the Google Display Network (GDN), you can access millions of sites straight from your Google Ads account.
- Targeting: Because of GDN’s extensive reach, you can also target the right audience by placing your ads on the right websites. This includes demographic and geo-targeting, along with specific interests of your target audience.
- Measurable: Clicks, impressions and conversions can all be tracked from Google Ads, as well as Google Analytics for more granular performance and engagement tracking.
This all sounds great, but what about the cons? There are some downsides to display ads, including:
- Banner Blindness: Because of the prolific nature of display ads, many users have come to ignore them completely. This means a lower click-through rate. However, this can be circumvented using remarketing and rich media ads.
- Ad Blockers: Along with this, ad blocker technology has risen in popularity over the last few years. Many brands and media outlets have tried to circumvent this, however, by giving users the option of allowing ads or purchasing a subscription.
Like all digital marketing strategies, display advertising starts with goal setting. Display ads are no different, but this time the benefits are slightly different.
Therefore, your strategy will ultimately depend on your goals. Some possible display ad goals include:
- Building brand and top-of-mind awareness
- Generating leads by offering a lead magnet
- Attracting abandoned users/customers through retargeting
- Nurturing leads through the buying process
In other words, display ads should be used to build or maintain brand awareness, and foster loyalty.
Remember, the average CTR for display ads is 0.06%. As with all marketing channels, it’s worth testing – especially if you’re building out a robust search engine marketing strategy. But it’s important to look at the data.
